Thursday Thoughts: Boston Marathon, Running, and Wegmans

Phew! Thursday already? Where did the time go this week?

Things have been hectic to say the least. Since I took Monday off to watch the marathon, I’ve been swamped at work trying to catch up on a missed day. The week is flying by, so I really can’t complain. Here’s some Thursday Thoughts:

  • I’m so inspired to run the Boston Marathon. Every year I watch the marathon I say to myself and others, “I’m going to run that race next year!” I tried to get in with a charity that I’ve always wanted to run for this year and was denied — they had over 100 applications for 7 bibs. Normally, it’s really not that hard to find a bib for the marathon. Lots of charities are always looking for runners. This year, people were begging to get in. Maybe next year? If not, I’ll be spectating again. I can’t miss this race.

  • Watching the elite runners was incredible. Simply incredible.

  • Speaking of marathons, I got into the Chicago Marathon! Looks like I’m headed to Chicago for my fall marathon this year. I am really excited to get going on training. I’m feeling much stronger now than I did going into marathon training last year. Just crossing my fingers that my body holds up. Anyone from Chicago/anyone who has run the Chicago Marathon have any tips?

  • Boston has been pretty friggin’ gorgeous lately. This was the view from the Chestnut Hill Reservoir yesterday morning. #nofilter

  • Wegman’s opens in Chestnut Hill on Sunday!!! I have been anxiously waiting for the day when the new Wegman’s finally opens and it’s almost here! I’ve never been to a Wegmans (we don’t have them in the Albany NY area) but everything I hear about them is that they’re like a Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s all mixed into one. So pumped.
  • I can’t stop eating this meal. There’s just something about the White Beans and Shrimp from the Runner’s World Cookbook. It’s even better as leftovers the next day.
